Women's Fund Postpones Event
By Maura TeynorSeptember 1, 2021
Due to an increase in COVID cases in our community, the Women’s Fund has decided to postpone its event “Sparking a Joy for Giving” with Philanthropy Ohio’s President and CEO, Deborah Aubert Thomas scheduled for September 27 at Mansfield Senior High School.
The Women’s Fund will reschedule it for next year.
While we regret this postponement, please rest assured that the Women’s Fund remains engaged in our endeavors to support women and girls in Richland County. We consider *you* an invaluable part of these efforts.
Here are some highlights we are proud to share with you:
- For the past two years, the Women’s Fund has funded a childcare initiative to make quality, affordable childcare accessible to all women. The decision to focus on childcare came after an 18-month strategic process with a community survey and many focus groups. The outcome of this not only led to our financial commitment, but it also helped develop a community childcare committee that has been meeting for two years. This committee has become a valuable resource to childcare providers throughout Richland County. In 2019 and 2020, the Women’s Fund awarded $25,000 to Richland County Youth and Family Council for the childcare initiative. RCYFC matched the $25,000 for both years for this project.
- In addition to our childcare commitment, we are still busy at work awarding smaller-scale grants to support the valuable work in our community. The Women’s Fund will review a new round of grant applications in October, and we look forward to the exciting and innovative ways in which our grantees empower women and girls.
To celebrate all our grantees, donors, and community partners we are having our Awards Ceremony Luncheon on November 12 at 11:30 am at the Kingwood Center Gardens. Please save the date as you are invited to this celebration. More information will be available on richlandcountyfoundation.org.
And lastly, please consider a donation to the Women’s Fund during Richland Gives from November 15-30 so we can continue to deliver on our mission of empowering women and girls in Richland County.
