Competitive Grants

In making grants from unrestricted and field of interest funds, Richland County Foundation looks to partner with nonprofit organizations to respond to current community needs. The Foundation encourages 501c3 organizations, government entities, schools, and nonprofit medical facilities to partner with the Foundation to provide charitable programs to Richland County residents.

Guidelines

Contact a Community Investment Officer (Allie Watson or Siera Marth-May) to schedule an initial meeting. We prefer to discuss an organization's needs prior to a grant application submission.

Summertime Kids Grants

The Summertime Kids grants are for nonprofit agencies to provide safe, fun-filled activities for Richland County children during the summer months.

Grant dollars are used for direct programming; regular staffing, physical hardware/technology, operational costs or occupancy costs are not covered by this grant.

Grant amounts range from $250 to $2,500.

  Education Grants

 

Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) Grants

Teacher Assistance Program grants are selected by a community committee for creative and innovative supplemental programs not covered by school funding. The grants are given to K-12 teachers in public or private Richland County schools to encourage them to develop new programs for their classrooms.

The committee will prioritize requests which emphasize: Attendance, Literacy,
Mathematics, and/or Career Advising.

Not Eligible for Funding:

  • Storage containers and rugs
  • Substitute teacher costs
  • Seating and furniture
  • Physical technology items (cameras, printers, tablets, etc.

Harry & Lois McCullough

McCullough Fund Grants are available for the purpose of promoting writing, literature appreciation, music, or Ohio history through creative, innovative, and effective methods and programs.

Mansfield City Schools Fine Arts Fund

This is an opportunity for Mansfield City School teachers to apply for grants. These grants will allow for unique programming utilizing local resources like the Mansfield Art Center, Renaissance Performing Arts, or other art programs identified by educators.

The Mansfield City Schools Field Trip and Family Involvement Activity Grants are available to teachers and principals in the Mansfield City School District.

Women's Fund Grants

The Women's Fund was established in 1996 to promote philanthropy among women and to establish a permanent endowment that provides funding to programs and projects in Richland County to empower women to achieve their full potential.

  • Average grant awards are around $5,000; you should reach out to Richland County Foundation staff to discuss the details of your request and determine the ideal request amount.

Connections Fund Grants

The Connections Fund is a vibrant group of professionals, community leaders, and citizens with a desire to give back to their community. The committee makes proactive grants annually supporting youth, education, and mentorship.

The grant dollars come from contributions and a growing endowment.
