Local Teachers Receive Grants from Richland County Foundation

The Teacher Assistance Program grants are given to K-12 teachers in public or private Richland County schools to encourage them to develop new programs, projects, or events for their classrooms.  The following grants were awarded. The Richland County Foundation awarded more than $$73,792.96 in educational program grants for the upcoming school year to local teachers for their creative or supplemental programs not covered by school funding.

Jim Tressel to Speak at Fundraiser for the Doug Castle Legacy Fund

Doug Castle was a local educator whose 50-year career spanned all aspects of education in Richland County. He had a special place in his heart for the underdog. When he died of brain cancer in 2018, his family established the Doug Castle Legacy Fund at the Richland County Foundation to carry on his work and honor his life. His wife, Liz; son, Michael, and daughter, Beth, want the fund to help in many areas including education, racial equity and inclusion, mentorship, and community building.
