The Foundation is supporting several projects.
Ontario Playground and Spray Park
Ontario is building an inclusive playground and spray park for families in Marshall Park. It will provide opportunities for able-bodied children to play alongside differently-abled children in a unique environment accessible to everyone. The new area should be open by Memorial Day.
The project was supported by a Community Fund grant.
Ritter’s Run Apartments
The Board awarded a grant to partially fund a senior housing complex planned by the Area Agency on Aging District 5. The funds used for this grant were the Community Fund and the Gorman Fund. The Ritter’s Run project on Ohio Street in Mansfield is a ranch-style apartment complex designed to serve low-income adults ages 55 and older. The handicap-accessible development will include support services, affordable rent, utilities, appliances, and off-street parking.
West End Neighborhood Streetscape
The first phase of the project, with an estimated construction cost of $1 million, will improve Glessner Avenue between Wood Street and Sturges and Arthur avenues. It includes upgraded sidewalks, improved crosswalks, new street lighting, retaining walls, and tree lawns. The Foundation awarded a grant through its Gorman Fund for the project.
