2008 Women's Fund Grants
Catholic Charities Women's "LifeSkills Workshop"– Program included basic money management, household management, and technical management tools for female clients.
Center for Individual and Family Services "Ladies in Recovery"– Program addressed chemical addiction and mental health issues. Emphasis was placed on empowerment, self-esteem, rebuilding personal identity, and identifying relapse triggers in alcohol/drug use and mental health.
Center for Individual and Family Services "The Women's Group" – Program provided an opportunity for participants to try new activities, learn new skills, meet a variety of people, and share their knowledge and skills with peers. It is designed to build self-esteem and independence through anger management, self-expression, problem-solving, and stress management.
Central City Economic Development Community Action Council "Women's Empowerment Project" – Program included a seminar offering encouragement, guidance, mentoring and greater insight into the women's strengths; including leadership abilities and interpersonal and communication skills.
Community Action for Capable Youth (CACY) "Sisters Inspiring Sisters (SIS)" – CACY Prevention Educators will utilized the evidence-based LifeSkills training lessons on anti-bullying conflict resolution, coping with anxiety and stress, communication and social skills, during weekly group meetings.
Community Health Access Project, Inc. (CHAP) "Early Infant Assistance" – Grant dollars will be used to purchase needed diapers and formula as part of a program to help pregnant women and newborn babies.
Harmony House "Enrich, Enhance, Empower" – Women living at Harmony House participated in workshops on assertiveness skills, health and fitness, dressing appropriately for specific occasions, etiquette, and manners.
Rehabilitation Center of North Central Ohio "Rehab Renewal Campaign" – Grant enabled the Rehab Center to provide a mother & baby a room at the New Beginnings facility enhanced the Relapse Prevention program to ensure babies are born drug free.
Visiting Nurses Association of Mid-Ohio (VNA) "Home Health Aide Training for STNA Credentials" – Training program helped new employees succeed in care-giving and prepare for a statewide-recognized credential in patient care. The sessions are designed to help translate informal abilities learned through caring for family members into a viable set of job skills.
