Teacher Assistance Program Grants Awarded

The Richland County Foundation presented the 2010-2011 Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) awards to area teachers at a program held at the Mansfield/Richland County Main Library. The grants were awarded for creative and innovative supplemental programs not covered by school funding. Teachers apply for these mini-grants (up to $1,000) in March.
The Teacher Assistance Program committee presented awards to eight county school districts including:
CRESTVIEW LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
· Crestview Middle School, Lisa Walter, $1,000 for “Beyond the Curriculum”
DISCOVERY SCHOOL
· Kay Fowler, $1,000 for “Books for Everyday Math”
· Christy Walter, $1,000 for “Consuming Materials: Our Wants and Needs”
MADISON LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
· Eastview Elementary School, Missy Wigton, $900 for “Reading Achievement Magnifies Success R.A.M.S.”
· Wooster Heights Elementary School, Christine Vermillion, $1,000, for “R.A.M.S. Reading Achievement Magnifies Success”
· Madison Junior High School, Craig Green, $590, for “Standards Through Musical Theater”
· Madison Comprehensive High School, John O’Bryant, $990.75, for “World History through the Eyes of young People”

· Newman Elementary School, Maria Beal, $1,000 for “Big Books for Little Readers”
· Newman Elementary School, Sarah Schonauer, $900 for “New Ways to Learn New Words”
