Foundation holds 65th Annual Meeting

The Richland County Foundation held its 65th annual meeting at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield on May 3, 2010 at 11:45 am. Board of Trustees Chair Thomas A. Depler presided over the business meeting to a group of more than 100 members and friends.

Michael Bennett, Chriss Harris, Don Mitchell, and Betty Wells were re-elected to the Board of Trustees for additional 3-year terms. Four new trustees were elected for first terms: Glenna Cannon, Bruce Cummins, Dr. Bruce Jackson, and Mark Masters. Serving as officers of the Board for 2010-11 are Sid Foltz, Chair; Mike Bennett, Chair Elect; Cynthia O’Neal, Secretary; and Dick Walters, Treasurer.

Highlights from 2009 were presented by committee chairs Sid Foltz, Governance: John Kastelic, Audit; Sam VanCura, Finance; and Dick Walters, Grant Distribution. Jason Murray, chair for Development reported that the Foundation received 2,216 gifts totaling $4,201,077 million.

Trustee Gayle Gorman Freeman retired after serving from 2001-2010. Trustee Linda H. Smith retired after serving from 1998-2010 including her years as board chair and immediate past chair. Trustees of the Foundation serve limited terms without compensation.

President Pam Siegenthaler, who will be retiring June 30, reflected on how the Foundation operates and its evolution over the years, “The Foundation has a broader and more diverse image and visibility in the community. Our focus and reputation is based on helping donors carryout their philanthropic goals and being accountable for their gifts. We have reached out to meet with others and through collaboration have developed ways to meet community needs.”

At the conclusion of the meeting a new chairman for the Board of Trustees was announced when attorney Tom Depler of Shelby passed the gavel to chair elect Sid Foltz III of Bellville.
