Catholic Charities received a grant of $45,000 to provide emergency assistance for rent/mortgage payments and medical bills/prescription drugs. Granted from several field of interest funds for the elderly and indigent.
Clear Fork Christian Preschool received a grant of $15,000 as start-up dollars to purchase equipment for the newly established non-denominational preschool serving the Clear Fork area. Granted from the Community Endowment Fund, David W. & Louise W. Evans Fund, Joan B. & Truman Clark Fund.
Foundation Center received a grant of $3,000 for 2011-2012 programming support. The Foundation Center provides educational resources and training along with a comprehensive database of funding resources for nonprofit organizations. The regional office in Cleveland provides staff support for grantwriting workshops held through a partnership with Richland County Foundation and the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library. Granted from the Milton C. and Mary Louise Oakes Fund.
Shelby City Schools received a grant of up to $25,000 for reconstruction of the Vocational Agricultural building on a new site. A grant of $20,000 will be paid immediately with a possible additional $5,000, as a dollar for dollar challenge. Granted from the Mary Mead Sturges and Robert Sturges Memorial Fund.
Shelby Community YMCA received a grant of $10,000 to restore two sections of the roof.

Dayspring Assisted Living and Care Facility received a grant of $13,200 as last dollars to renovate the facility’s restrooms. The upgrades will provide ADA compliance and increased accessibility for Richland County residents who need affordable assisted living care. Granted from the David N. and Miriam G. Feiser Memorial Fund.
Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center received a grant of $26,900 to provide Therapeutic Riding Scholarships for children with physical and mental disabilities who have limited financial resources. Granted from the Ralph C. Lutz Fund.

Catholic Charities – Richland County Organization for Disaster Assistance (CODA) – received a grant of $5,000 to provide case management services for victims of the February 2011 flood who are over the age of sixty and living in the city of Mansfield. Granted from the Scattergood Fund.
The Center for Individual and Family Services – Family Practice & Psychiatric Integration – received a grant of $50,825 to support collaboration with Third Street Family Services to meet a local need for general practitioners and psychiatric care. The grant will help renovate physician office space and provide training for general practitioners to incorporate treatment of low-level mental illness into the physical treatment of the patient. Granted from the Mary Mead and Robert Sturges Memorial Fund and the Marion Draffan Wisdom Fund.
Children’s Cupboard – Southside Outreach – received a grant of $7,127 to renovate a handicapped accessible bathroom and build a handicapped accessible entry ramp into the facility. Children’s Cupboard serves children and their families in south east Mansfield. Granted from the Ralph Lutz Fund.
The Domestic Violence Shelter – HVAC Replacement – received a grant of $38,500 as final dollars needed for the replacement of the facility’s heating and cooling system. Granted from the Robert B. Black Fund and the Pauline S. Treisch Fund.
Little Buckeye Children’s Museum – Little Buckeye Museum Phase I – received a grant of $22,000 as start-up dollars for the interactive learning center designed for children up to 12-years of age. Granted from the Consolidated Memorial Fund.
Mansfield/Richland County Public Library – First Call 2-1-1 Expansion Project – received a grant of $11,000 as final dollars needed to run the necessary technology from the Main Library to service the new location of the First Call 2-1-1 office across the street. First Call 2-1-1 connects individuals to the appropriate social service provider(s) to assist with their needs. Granted from the Pauline S. Treisch Fund.
Ohio Bird Sanctuary – Roof and Window Replacement Project – received a grant of $10,000 as final dollars needed to replace the roof and windows to preserve the integrity of the building used for summer camp, classroom space, and possible use in the future as a visitor center. Granted from the Katherine L. Parker Fund.

Ashland University was awarded $250,000, to be paid over 5-years for the Campaign for the College of Nursing. The grant is part of a $15.5 million campaign to build a College of Nursing facility in Richland County at the Balgreen property located at Trimble Road and Marion Avenue. Granted from multiple funds.
Mansfield Memorial Homes received two grants totaling $35,000 for programs that assist the elderly. The Homemaker Home Health program was awarded $20,000 to pay for home health services that include personal care, light housekeeping, and limited errand-runs to assist the elderly. The Rotary Adult Daycare Center was awarded $15,000 to provide activities and socialization for the elderly who may need assistance and can no longer remain alone. Both grants were awarded from the Floyd H. Lutz Fund.
Ohio Special Response Team was awarded $12,500 for Emergency Response Equipment to equip a trailer to meet FEMA specifications required for certification. The Ohio Special Response Team members serving Richland County are volunteers trained in search and rescue to respond to man-made or natural disasters. Granted from the W. Richard Tappan Fund.
The Salvation Army was awarded $25,000 to provide emergency rent and mortgage assistance for their clients. Granted from the Mary Mead Sturges and Robert Sturges Memorial Fund.
February
Mansfield Area Y received $26,000 for a pilot program that would hire a Coordinator for Senior Citizen Programming to expand senior services in conjunction with the Silver Sneaker’s program. Granted from the Katharine C. Bristor Fund and the Charles R. Underhill Fund.
Richland Community Development Group – Pilot Project will receive up to $50,000 to implement Phase II of a pilot project to coordinate a county-wide collaborative effort for both economic and community development. The grant will provide a $1 for $1 match to raise funds to support a structured and sustainable organization. Granted from the Paul R. Tappan Fund.
