Fund Opportunities for Donors
The Richland County Foundation administers over 300 charitable funds that serve a variety of charitable purposes depending on the directions of the donor. The various fund types include both endowed funds and non-endowed funds to offer your clients flexibility.
Community Endowment or Unrestricted Funds offer the broadest options for charitable giving. These funds pool together large numbers of other gifts to support the ever-changing needs of our community. It is in effect, a charitable savings account that grows in value and serves our county today and tomorrow. Download an information sheet

Field of Interest Funds allow donors the opportunity select specific interests within a broad area such as children’s programs, education, seniors, or aiding the homeless. Download an information sheet

Donor Advised Funds give individuals and families the opportunity to make grant suggestions to favorite charities. Donor Advised Funds are a flexible and convenient alternative to a private foundation. It is also a way to keep charitable contributions anonymous, at the preference of the donor. Designated Funds provide annual support to the charities selected by the donor. They offer the added benefit that if the organization(s) cease to exist, the Foundation has the responsibility to ensure that the donors original intent is met. Download an information sheet

Scholarship Funds provide grants to help financially deserving Richland County students obtain an undergraduate degree. Many donors have utilized scholarship funds to honor or memorialize a loved one. Guidelines can be established for specific schools or fields of study. Download an information sheet

Agency Funds are established by charitable organizations and can be endowed or non-endowed. Sometimes these funds have received donations resulting from a community campaign. The agency benefits from the Foundation’s professional asset management, which allows the agency’s staff and board to focus on providing services to their constituents.
Special Focus Funds. There are many funds established by the board of trustees that support a variety interests. They are called Field of Interest Funds and have annual grant programs. Contributions of any size can be made directly to any of these funds.
